Scanconverter

What is a scan converter?

scan converter modifies a signal electronically. If the input is a computer and the output is a video-compatible-only device, a scan converter will be required.

What is to be considered?

Scan converters can also be called “down converters”. The specific signal required must be taken into consideration: 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, SDI, 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 720i, YUV, Y/C or FBAS. The Scan Do HD from CSI provides SDI, HD-SDI and 3G-SDI signals as fiber-optic and electronic signals. In contrast, the Scan Do SD from Artel only outputs one SDI video signal. Both devices correspond to the SMPTE standard. Because the picture formats and resolutions of input and output signals are often different, the Scan Do offers a number of possibilities for editing.

Which types of signals are there?

In the area of the screen signals there are a variety of analog and digital signals such as VGA, DVI, S-Video, CVBS, YUV, HDMI, SDI, 3G-SDI and HD-SDI.
